Do you know BTS?
If you don’t know who BTS is, strap in I am about to take you on a ride.
It would be remiss of me to not tell my Army story. In 2020, I had recently gotten into K-drama so it was all over my explorer page on Instagram. One day while scrolling I came across this video with some extremely funny guys, I haven’t laughed that hard in a bit. As it was so funny I decided to share it on my story so others could laugh too. I soon got a message saying “omg you’re a fan of BTS, too?” confused I said “BTS? who is that?”, they then proceeded to tell me about BTS and that what I was laughing at was Run BTS (variety show). I asked where I could watch it and promptly downloaded Vlive (now Weverse) and watched about 50 episodes. I was so pleased with these seven hilarious guys I decided to listen their music to make it an even trade, the rest is history. I am now fully purple blooded. I even started paying for Apple Music because I wanted to stream BTS music. Funnily enough, my friend has been an Army since 2015 and had tried to get me into BTS but I was too young and dumb, forgive me.
Bangtan Sonyeondan, Bulletproof Boy Scouts or more commonly BTS, is a seven member boy band from South Korea, they debuted in 2013 and are still active. They have won numerous awards both in South Korea and internationally, they have even been nominated at the Grammys more than once. Their accomplishments are nothing to sneeze at. BTS transcends just Kpop or even any one genre of music, they are so talented and pull from all genres that make their fans go crazy. You can never get too comfortable with knowing what BTS will come with next because they are always growing and evolving. They have rappers, singers, dancers, producers just everything within the confines of the group.
BTS: Yet To Come in Cinemas is a recording of their most recent all seven members performance that they did in Busan, South Korea in October 2022 for S. Korea’s bid to host the 2030 World EXPO. This concert for many Armys felt like a lovely hug and see you later from the Tannies. Earlier that year they had already told us (Army) that they were going on hiatus as well as will be fulfilling mandatory military service.
I am sure nothing can compare to the emotions and feelings at that concert, being there in the flesh is really an experience that would stick with you for life. However, I must say, even though I didn’t attend in the flesh, after watching the movie I felt all the emotions and love from the concert.
The “movie” starts with the cutest intro and goes to show us one of the most amazing stage, the B in BTS stands for BIG BUDGET. BTS opens the concert with Mic Drop. A fitting opening to the concert might I add, because BTS has accomplished so much more than they ever had when they first penned and released that song. “Did you see my bag? Did you see my bag? It’s hella trophies and its hella thick” The camera quality is elite, I feel like I am in the crowd watching them. Listening to the cheers of the Armys present, a magical experience, BTS gets to see and hear how much Armys love and appreciate them.
After every few performances they have a ments in between where they stop and talk to Armys to make sure they’re okay asking if they are enjoying the show and really just hyping them up. This movie, is not just a movie you watch, its something you experience as it is a concert.
Nearing the end BTS decided that they were going to make us cry our eyes out by performing Epilogue: Young Forever, For Youth, Spring Day and Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment). These are really some of the most touching songs BTS have written. For Youth and Yet To Come especially resonates with me. Whenever I hear the words “If I never met you” I just want to cry, knowing that BTS exists because of Army. If they did not have the fans they did, who loved and supported them they would not have been able to achieve their dreams and goals. Spring Day, is about love and loss, longing for the day you and your love can meet again. Yet To Come, that’s basically how I live my life, knowing that the best is always yet to come. Great days have passed but even better days are ahead.
Watching this concert really reminded me of my baby Army days when I use to be waking up at 2AM/3AM to watch BTS performances. It really renewed the admiration I have for the Tannies. #APOBANGPO in this BTS shit for life.
All I can say is if you have not yet, get into BTS. Trust me they have songs that you would love, really think about why you would not listen to BTS and see if that reason makes sense. You are missing out on an experience that no one should be missing out on. This is a once in a lifetime act and we are here witnessing it.
“Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films”
Bong Joon Ho
This is not just for movies, and cartoons and whatever else, so many other forms of great media are being overlooked simply because people refuse to read. Subtitles are not as scary as you think and as soon as you learn that, you will expand your world.

Thanks for reading, Mad was just at the movie, I wasn’t angry at the movie… for this one. See you next time to find out if/why I’m Mad At The Movie.
